2018 was an amazing year for us at John Mini Distinctive Landscapes. We completed some amazing projects and we continue to work with our wonderful clients. In 2019, we have some big things in the works, and we’d like to share with you what we think the defining office landscape trends of this year will be.
Native Plants
For a long time, native plants were often overlooked in favor of brighter, more colorful plants, often from tropical regions, but in 2018 we noticed that native plants were being appreciated more, and we expect to see more of that through 2019.
Native plants are beautiful when incorporated into a living wall or planters around the office, but they really shine in outdoor installations. They generally require less care since they’re in their natural climate, and they’re excellent at soil retention. As an added bonus, many of New York’s more beautiful native species are excellent at attracting butterflies.
Living Walls
If you follow our social media, it’ll come as no surprise to you that we like living walls. We like building them, we like maintaining them, and we absolutely love looking at them. Living walls are becoming increasingly popular in the office setting, and we think that 2019 is going to be the year of the living wall.
Not only are living walls aesthetically pleasing, but they also improve air quality. Having a living wall in your office makes the office more productive and helps guests feel welcomed.
Monochromatic Planters
One emerging trend in interior landscaping is matching the planter or container to its surroundings so that the focus is drawn to the flowers themselves. A white planter placed in front of a white wall really allows the plants to pop.
This simple solution creates a modern, elegant look that’s appropriate for everything from small offices to sprawling lobbies.
Don’t be stuck with last year’s looks. If you’re looking for an interior landscape to enhance your workspace, call John Mini Distinctive Landscapes today for a design that both beautiful and modern.
