Local Mural: The Wishing Wall

Local Mural: The Wishing Wall

For the past month I’ve been collaborating with 7 other local artists to complete this mural comprised of 65 - 8’x10’ concrete slabs; 520’ long! Called The Wishing Wall, it is a cohesive design of ideas and wishes submitted by the community. Each artist was designated a space within the mural to express their own vision. My individual space is pictured, the Monarch, and was inspired by John Mini’s design team’s recent trend development of mandalas. A core idea behind the mandala is impermanence, which ties directly into this temporary wall that is due to come down in about a year. Plus, the butterfly has a naturally occurring symmetrical design referencing the aesthetic qualities of the mandala. The butterfly is born to be wild, fluid and forever beautiful.
